Planning Permission
Oak Porch Planning permission is not always required and may be considered as permitted development. The rules and regulations regarding the erection of an oak porch will vary from council to council and the advice would be to seek independent advice before ordering. The design of the porch may also need to be considered.
Below is an excerpt from the planning portal website:
“The planning rules for an oak porch are applicable to any external door to the dwelling or house.
Adding a porch to any external door of your house as permitted development should be ok and not require an application for planning permission, providing:
- the ground floor area (measured externally) would not exceed three square metres.
- no part would be more than three metres above ground level.
- no part of the porch would be within two metres of any boundary of the dwelling/house and the highway.
